RAMBAN: To spread awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding, the department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Ramban organized an awareness programme here today to mark “World Breastfeeding Week”.
CDPO Ramban, CDPO Banihal supervisors of four ICDS Projects of Ramban were also present on the occasion.
World Breastfeeding Week is an annual celebration held every year from August 1 to 7 in over 120 countries. The World Health Organization states breastfeeding as one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival.
The experts sensitized the participants and focused on special nutritional care during pregnancy, the need of lactation, importance of breast milk, importance of colostrums, about the nutritional care, importance of hygiene and sanitation, importance of balanced diet, prevention of anemia etc
Similar programmes were held in all AWCs and in the offices of the Child Development Project Office including Ramban, Gool, Ukheral and Banihal.
