GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today handed over a cash prize of Rs 0.5 lakh and ‘Satya Devi Amla’ prize to Parveena Ayub, a 15 year old student who scured 490 marks out of 500 in 10th standard exams this year during a felicitation program organized by Delhi Public School at Mini Secretariat here.
Vice Principal DPS Srinagar, Shafaq Afshan and other officials of school management were also present during the felicitation function.
On the occasion, Vice Principal DPS Srinagar said that the school will also provide two year fully-funded scholarships to the meritorious girl.
Appreciating the remarkable journey of the girl from studying in a single tin shed to passing the Class 10th, the DC complemented the school management for taking such initiative that would not just inspire her for doing better but this act would encourage all the girls to continue the journey towards their education and success.
On the occasion, parents of Parveena Ayub shared their over-whelming joy for the success of their daughter adding that their daughter made not just them but the whole community proud.
