District Development council chairperson holds public meeting

Baramulla: In order to get first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands in far flung areas District Development council Chairperson Baramulla, Safeena Beigh on Sunday conducted a public meeting at her residence Khawaja Bagh Baramulla. During the durbar, various public deputations including residents of adjoining villages and many respectable citizens called upon the DDC Chairperson .
The meeting witnessed an overwhelming response wherein large numbers of people from Kreeri , Wagoora Kalantra ,Kandi belt and adjoining villages apprised the DDC chairperson with their grievances, demands and issues of public importance.
A delegation from Tehsil Kreeri raised the issues of developmental projects to be taken under PMGSY and R&B department for the current year, massive land sliding at Sheikh Mohalla Kreeri and shifting of the families and overall drainage system of the area.
On the occasion, scores of deputations and individuals raised various issues that include uninterrupted supply of electricity and shortage of transformers, macadamization of roads, Road connectivity to various villages, development of lanes, protection bunds, setting up of dairy farms, installation of solar and street lights, better health and education facilities, fencing of school buildings and graveyards ,dumping sites for disposal of solid wastes and drainage system.
The DDC chairperson after listening patiently to various public demands ensured them prompt and speedy redressal of the issues raised during the meeting. She assured that all issues within her competence will be redressed as early as possible, whereas the other all genuine demands will be taken up at appropriate forums for their resolution.
While addressing the public on the occasion, the DDC chairperson Safeena Beigh , impressed upon the district and sub divisional administration to show keen interest in ensuring quality developmental works in rural pockets and address the issues of public importance at grass root levels. She appealed to all other elected DDC’s and members of PRI’s to provide cooperation and maintain coordination with the administration to enhance the process of development in the region and assured them that the issues raised will be resolved with utmost importance.
She thanked the central government for strengthening PRI’s in the Jammu and Kashmir post reformative approach and political reconstruction that has increased the representation and involvement of women in decision- making process by including provisions which integrate 33% women reservation quotas.
