Anti encroachment drive continues in Awantipora

Shopping complex on State land demolished

AWANTIPORA: District administration Pulwama continuing its zero tolerance policy against encroachments in the district, on Saturday evening carried yet another anti-encroachment drive at Awantipora and demolished a shopping complex constructed on state land.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that a shopping complex illegally constructed on state land was demolished during an anti-encroachment drive on old National highway at Awantipora area.
The shopping complex had six shops demolished during an anti encroachment drive.
Reports said few JCB machines were used to dismantle the complex which was built illegally on state land.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Awantipora Revenue department and other officers and officials of concerned departments were present during the drive.
Earlier, a mega demolition drive carried out by district administration Pulwama to clear the encroachments and illegal constructions along old national highway in Awantipora area on Wednesday in which many structures were razed down.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Raghav Langer led an anti encroachment team which demolished dozens of structures raised along the old National highway Awantipora.
A senior administrative officer told Kashmir Reader that notices were sent to the encroachers to vacate the state land a couple of years ago.
A total of 39 structures including shops and cowsheds were dismantled,” the officer said.
