Police arrests 2 drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered

SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Sheikh Hamza Crossing near JK Bank signalled two suspicious persons to stop. However, they tried to escape from the spot but were tactfully nabbed by the officers at the checkpoint. They have been identified as Mehran-ud-Din Sheikh and Najamul Huda, both residents of Sheikh Hamza Colony Zakura. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.4 Kgs of Charas concealed in maize peels from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Zakoora where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 105/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Zakoora and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police have resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
