REASI: A Farmers’ awareness program on promotion and cultivation of Lemon grass was held here at village Pouni. A unique initiative has been started jointly by Agriculture Department, Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) Jammu and District Administration Reasi to promote the cultivation of Lemon grass in the Reasi district.
The programme has been launched on the instructions of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, J&K, Navin Kumar Choudhary.
The participants were emphasised to switch over to cultivation of Lemon grass on the land that was earlier kept fallow due to monkey menace as monkeys do not feed on Lemon grass. They were apprised that the lemon grass cultivation would help in income generation by means of extracting lemon grass oil and other processed products like incense sticks that are in high demand in the market.
