SRINAGAR: School of Management Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri organized a webinar on ‘Career and life skills to take you beyond COVID-19’.
Prof. Javed Musarrat, vice Chancellor BGSBU lauded the organizing team for hosting the webinar on such an important theme relevant to the ongoing Covid crises across the globe. Prof. Musarrat mentioned that the corona virus outbreak has caused worry and uncertainty throughout the globe, but there’s no point driving you stir crazy while staying at home. By choosing to teach yourself new skills, you will not only make good use of time, but you could also significantly benefit your life and career as well, he mentioned. Prof. Neerja Pande, Professor of Communication, IIM Lucknow delivered the keynote address. Prof. Neerja said that Career skills would encompass those competencies which will help you build a dream career with your passion, have a life of distinguished achievements bringing you center stage and where economics of the situation has also not been disturbed in spite of the virus whereas Life skills would encompass a way of life or habits which will give you satisfaction in your solitude, add meaning to your life not by your own achievements but by the compassionate contributions you make in someone else’s life by helping them live their dreams in spite of the virus. She said that in the hyper mediated world during and post Covid-19 you must always engage your mind before you engage your mouth or mouse. In her much appreciated presentation she highlighted five propositions – I think therefore I am, I know who I am, I link therefore I am, I want to have or I want to be and I am therefore I Think. Prof. Neerja appreciated the efforts of BGSB University for organizing online interactions and webinars on important themes of study to benefit the students and faculty members.
Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs delivered the welcome address. In his address Prof. Iqbal said that under the steward leadership of Prof. Javed Musarrat the BGSB University has been effectively responding to the Covid crises by connecting with all stakeholders, establishing mutual trust, distributing leadership responsibilities to situationally aware teams, and communicating with clarity and regularity with mentors and learners. He said that the University is effectively reaching out to all its stakeholders particularly the students and scholars by adopting online modes of teaching and learning to ensure that their academic pursuits are met within the stipulated time frame.
