Illicit timber seized in Rafiabad, one held

BARAMULLA: The forest department seized huge quantities of illicit timber in Hadipora area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
Official sources said that after specific information a Naka was laid by the officials of the forest department under the supervision of range officer Sofi Farhan near the Hadipora village of Rafiabad. A pickup vehicle bearing registration number (JK05D 2629) was stopped by the officials, they said during checking illicit timber approximately 53 ft was seized from the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle was arrested while the vehicle along with timber has been also seized.
They said that green gold was cut down from the upper reaches of Rafiabad and the vehicle was on the way to a joinery mill.
They added that a case has been registered in police station Watergam and further investigation is on.
