Students stage protest against Rohingya killings

Students of Degree college Sopore and Law College on Monday protested against the ‘persecution’ and killing of Rohingya Muslims by fanatic Buddhists in Burma.

According to the reports, a large number of students from Government Degree College Sopore protested inside college campus and condemned the killings and persecution of Rohingya Muslims.

Reports said that the protesting students were carrying placards and banners seeking an end to the ‘genocide’ in Burma. The students took out a protest towards Iqbal market and Main Chowk area.

Witnesses said that as the students reached near Iqbal market some protesters started pelting stones on police vehicles which was retaliated by lobbing of tear gas shells by the police personnel.

Meanwhile, the students of Law College Sopore also staged a peaceful protest demonstration against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims.

Scores of students took out a protest rally from Amargrah to Sangrama Chowk.

The students raised slogans in favour of Rohingya Muslims while carrying placards with messages like ‘Stop the killing of Innocent Muslims in Burma’. They also chanted pro-Islam and anti-Myanmar government slogans while demanding halt to killings of Rohingyas.

The protestors also raised slogans against Aung San Sui Kyi, the de facto head of the Myanmar government.
