FM inaugurates treasury at Baaghat-e-Kanipora

BUDGAM: Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on Thursday inaugurated J&K’s 129th Treasury at Baaghat-i-Kanipora area here, according to an official spokesperson.
This treasury will cater to the area of Chanapora, Hyderpora, Rawalpora, Natipora, Khanda, Chattergam etc. which has a total of 22 drawing and disbursing officers.
MLC, Ali Mohammad Dar, Director General Accounts and Treasuries J&K, Altaf Hassan Mirza, Director Accounts and Treasuries, Mohammad Yousuf Pandit, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Khurshid Ahmed Shah, All District Treasury Officers and other district officers including district heads of various Engineering Departments were present on the occasion.
Finance Minister, while addressing a public gathering said that the whole purpose of opening new bank branches, treasuries, government offices is to make government accessible to public such that they do not face any inconvenience in getting their rightful works done. This treasury will be a great relief to pensioners of the area who earlier had to travel upto Chadoora to get their pension from the treasury.
Rather said that transparent and accessible government is the hallmark of current government and all efforts have been made to ensure the   system is more responsive and accountable to the people. He said that Creation of new administrative units has huge financial implications but the objective is public convenience and good governance at the grass root level. Rather said that Chadoora area of district Budgam was designated a sub-district while as BK Pora has been upgraded from a Block to Tehsil, which will help to redress the issues of the people in a time bound manner.
