Police seize vehicles not transferred after sale–purchase

Must read

SRINAGAR: In a district-wide enforcement drive, J&K Police in Shopian have seized a significant number of vehicles found plying on roads without mandatory ownership transfer after sale–purchase.

On the directions of SSP Shopian, dedicated teams were deployed across multiple locations to identify such vehicles. During the drive, numerous vehicles operating without proper transfer of ownership were seized, and legal action was initiated under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, police said in a statement.

J&K Police has advised all vehicle owners to ensure timely transfer of ownership after any sale–purchase transaction. “Failure to do so will invite strict legal action, as similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming days,” police said, adding that they are committed to promoting road safety, accountability, and adherence to traffic laws across the district.
