BARAMULLA: In a proactive effort to promote online safety, the police in Pulwama organised Cyber Awareness Programmes across several educational institutions, including High School Washbugh, Government Middle School Dougam, and Government Higher Secondary School Achen.
The events aimed to educate students on the importance of cyber safety, the potential risks associated with online activities, and preventive measures to safeguard against cybercrimes.
At High School Washbugh, the session was led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters, who was accompanied by the cyber unit team. Together, they engaged with students and faculty, addressing questions and sharing real-life examples of online threats and security precautions. Similar awareness sessions were conducted at Government Middle School Dougam and Government Higher Secondary School Achen, where local police officers provided guidance on maintaining privacy, identifying phishing attempts, and avoiding unsafe online interactions.
The events received a positive response from both students and teachers, who commended the initiative aimed at fostering a safer online community. The general public is encouraged to report any incidents of cyber fraud or other related issues to the nearest police station or dial 112 for assistance.
