SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday emphasized the need for foolproof arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful observance of the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani at the historic Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal.
Sagar urged the concerned departments to work in close coordination to provide all essential facilities for devotees, including adequate transport, uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, healthcare services, and security arrangements. He said that every effort should be made to facilitate the smooth participation of pilgrims and ensure that the annual religious event is conducted in a peaceful, dignified and spiritually enriching atmosphere.
Describing Mela Kheer Bhawani as an integral part of Kashmir’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Sagar said the annual festival symbolizes the Valley’s centuries-old traditions of communal harmony, mutual respect, and coexistence. He noted that the mela holds deep religious significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community and serves as a living testament to Kashmir’s pluralistic ethos, bringing people from different faiths and backgrounds together in a spirit of devotion, brotherhood and shared cultural identity.
Later he chaired a meeting with party functionaries of Block B Khanyar. MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar was also present on the occasion.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions on various developmental issues and matters concerning the local public. Party leaders and functionaries exchanged views on addressing public grievances, strengthening grassroots outreach, and accelerating development initiatives in the area.
