PAMPORE: The locals as well as Congress leader has demanded facilities and other staff for the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Zantrag Khrew village of Pampore Tehsil in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The Congress party Incharge for Pampore Constituency, Advocate Zameer Farooq visited the Zantrag village where he interacted with people from different walks of life. During the visit, the people brought many issues to his notice. They informed him about the lack of facilities and staff at NTPHC Zantrag due to which they face immense hardships.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Advocate Zameer said he visited the “beautiful” village of Zantrag and interacted with the people who brought many issues to his notice.
“I was told that NTPHC Zantrag has a beautiful building but it has only two employees,” he said, adding that he was informed by people that a doctor is visiting the NTPHC for two days a week.
“The doctor is on a deputational basis and not posted at the NTPHC. An ambulance donated to the NTPHC has no driver for driving it. There are no facilities for X-ray, ECG and other examinations at the facility in the absence of which it serves no purpose to the villagers,” he said.
I appeal to LG Sahab, Director Health and DC Pulwama to address the issue on a priority basis, he said.
Abdul Gani, a lcoal, told Kashmir Reader that most people in the area work as labourers. “We have to spend Rs 1000 to ferry our patients to Khrew in Sumo,” he said, adding that a sweeper and a paramedic at the NTPHC are on duty from 10 am to 4 pm after which there is no one to take care of the patients.
He said ferrying patients to Khrew and Pampore is both money and time-consuming for them due to which they face immense hardships.
The residents of the village said the NTPC Zantrag was donated two ambulances by former MLA Zahoor Ahmad Mir and HK Cement factory Khrew but authorities shifted them to other health facilities. They also said the NTPHC is still without electricity.
BMO Pampore, Dr Asima Nazir told Kashmir Reader that the locals should bring the issues before authorities in a proper way so that they can look into them.
She said 5 doctors from the block were deputed for yatra and other duties. “Once they are relieved they will report to their original place of posting,” she said.
