Will be expanded to every school across region: President Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam
BUDGAM: The maiden inauguration of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) awareness program was held today at Spring Buds Educational Institute, Budgam, under the leadership of Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam, President, PSA J&K.
The event was graced by an august gathering of educators, stakeholders and media representatives. In his address, Dr. Baba Nazrul Islam highlighted the critical importance of safeguarding children and ensuring safe learning environments across all educational institutions. He elaborated on the objectives of the initiative, emphasizing that awareness and sensitization are essential pillars in protecting the rights and dignity of students.
Speaking to media personnel, the President assured that this program will not remain confined to a single institution but will be expanded to every school across the region. He reiterated PSA J&K’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety, respect and accountability, ensuring that students, teachers and staff are well-informed and empowered to prevent and respond to issues of abuse and harassment.
The launch of this program marks a significant milestone in PSA J&K’s ongoing efforts to strengthen child protection and institutional responsibility. The Association reaffirmed its resolve to work collectively with schools, parents, and civil society to build a secure and nurturing educational ecosystem for all children.
The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Er. Mohammad Asraf Baba, Coordinator, Advisory Council PSA J&K and Mr. Shahnawaz Qurashi, District President PSA J&K Budgam. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Syed Mujtaba, accompanied by his team, who emphasized the practical aspects of implementing awareness and safety measures in schools.
