SRINAGAR: Director School Education Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani on Saturday inaugurated a newly established Reception Centre and Mini Auditorium at Government Higher Secondary School Chursoo, Awantipora (Pulwama).
Speaking during an Enrollment Drive organized on the occasion, he reaffirmed that ground-level inspection and continuous monitoring of schools are essential components of an effective education system. He further added that the department remains committed to enhancing school facilities across the region to ensure a conducive learning environment for every child.
During the event, the school unveiled a notable student publication titled “All for Thy Name”, authored by the talented student of the said school, Adnan Gul, reflecting the institution’s focus on promoting creative and academic excellence. On this occasion, the Director also facilitated the formal enrollment of nearly two dozen students, encouraging parents to actively support their children’s educational journey. Addressing the students directly, he stated,
“You must feel free to remain in direct contact with me and share any concern relating to your studies or school environment—your feedback is important.”
Outstanding student performers were felicitated with certificates and awards in recognition of their achievements.
In his address, the Director commended the school administration for its efficient utilization of available resources and acknowledged its continuous efforts to improve academic standards. He reiterated that quality education remains a top priority of the Government, and every possible effort is being made to provide the necessary facilities to educational institutions. While appreciating the literary contribution of student author Adnan Gul, he encouraged the said school and asked all the heads of other schools to offer suitable platforms to students for developing and showcasing their writing abilities. DSEK advised the school management to prepare a student team capable of addressing social issues through their writings. He also appreciated the effective implementation of the Kitchen Garden Initiative by the school.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Education Officer Pulwama, Shabir Ahmad Khan, highlighted the recent achievements of the district in the education sector and expressed pride that Pulwama secured the first position in the latest PARAKH Test. Principal of the institution, Ehsan-ul-Haq, presented an overview of academic activities at the school. A documentary film was also screened in the newly inaugurated Mini Auditorium, showcasing the school’s reconstruction efforts following the devastation caused by the 2014 floods. The programme was conducted by Broadcaster Amin Sarwar, who efficiently handled the proceedings as the Master of Ceremonies.
