SRINAGAR:In a remarkable display of community spirit and youth engagement, Er. Aijaz Hussain, DDC Member and Co-Incharge, BJP Minority Morcha, UT of J&K, on Sunday participated as the Chief Guest in the 1st Edition of the Balhama Marathon, organized by Pir Panjal Hikers.
The marathon witnessed an enthusiastic turnout with around 250 participants running a 10-kilometre stretch, showcasing energy, discipline, and determination. Participants from Balhama, Khonmoh, Zawoora, and Zaffron Colony joined the run, making it a vibrant and inclusive community event.
Competitors from different age groups — juniors as well as senior categories — actively participated in the marathon. Er. Aijaz Hussain felicitated the winners and participants across all categories and appreciated their enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship.
On the occasion, Rafiq Ahmad (KAS) graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The Police Department and Health Department extended vital support, ensuring smooth conduct and safety arrangements for all participants, which contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Er. Aijaz Hussain reaffirmed his commitment to the development of sports infrastructure in the area. He assured that no effort will be spared to ensure that development reaches the last corner, empowering youth and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through improved facilities and opportunities.
Er. Aijaz Hussain also commended the organizers Pir Panjal Hikers for their dedicated efforts in promoting sports culture and community engagement at the grassroots level. He emphasized the importance of fitness and youth participation in building a progressive society aligned with the vision of the Fit India Movement.
