JAMMU/ SRINAGAR: The Traffic Police Headquarters has issued an advisory regarding ongoing traffic conditions and precautions on key routes, including NH-44, Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road, Mughal Road, and SSG Road, in view of weather conditions, ongoing Yatra, and maintenance activities.
Traffic Conditions (02-07-2025, 1700 hrs to 03-07-2025, 1700 hrs):
– Slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of two Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs).
– Single-lane traffic at Nashri-Dalwas and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather.
– Commuters from Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban are requested to carry photo ID cards after cut-off timings from Jammu/Udhampur to facilitate smooth movement.
Travel Advisories:
– Passengers and LMV operators are advised to undertake journeys during daytime on NH-44 due to risk of shooting stones, especially between Ramban and Banihal.
– Goods carriers carrying perishable or live stock must load vehicles as per official advisories, considering single-lane traffic and road conditions.
– Fruit growers and load carriers heading from Valley towards Jammu should load and park vehicles timely (before 9 am) at designated spots between Navyug Tunnel and Levdoora for smooth passage.
– HMVs are requested to avoid overloading, carry sufficient fuel, and ensure vehicle fitness before travel.
– Only HMVs with 6 or 10 tyres are permitted to ply through Dhar Road.
– Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts near landslide or shooting stone zones between Ramban and Banihal.
Traffic Plan for 04-07-2025:
– Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44): Subject to weather, Sanjy convoy, LMVs, passenger, and private cars will be allowed from both sides. HMVs will be permitted on alternate days.
– Yatra (Amarnath Ji 2025): Cut-off timings are as follows:
– Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600-1200 hrs
– Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700-1300 hrs
– Qazigund to Jammu: 1130-1400 hrs
– HMVs from Jakheni to Srinagar allowed after road assessment, not after 1900 hrs.
Special Restrictions & Advisory:
– Vehicles carrying fresh perishable goods should load and park before 9 am at designated points.
– Vehicles carrying petrol, diesel, LPG, and other essential supplies are advised to use Mughal Road for return journeys, as per official advisories.
– In Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244, LMVs and HPSVs are allowed from both sides during specified hours, subject to weather and road conditions.
– SSG Road movement is regulated with LMVs permitted from Minamarg to Srinagar (0500-1000 hrs) and from Sonamarg to Kargil (1130-1730 hrs).
– Mughal Road—subject to weather—permits LMVs and HPSVs during operational hours (0700-1800 hrs).
