SRINAGAR: As India prepares to mark the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a delegation of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris paid a heartfelt visit to the Chinar Corps in Srinagar, reaffirming their unwavering patriotism and respect for the sacrifices made during the 1999 Kargil War.
Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit, leadership, and sacrifice of the Indian Army in reclaiming Indian territory from intruders at the high altitudes of Kargil. This year’s celebrations will honor the valor of our soldiers with events across Srinagar, Drass, and Kargil, reflecting on the nation’s resolve and unity.
Leading the delegation was Rear Admiral Rajvir Singh (Retd), former Principal of the Indian Naval Academy. The veterans arrived at Badami Bagh Cantonment on July 2nd, where they paid tribute at the Chinar War Memorial and visited the “Ibadat-e-Shahadat” museum, immersing themselves in the heroism and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
During their visit, the veterans engaged with the Chinar Corps Commander, discussing the vital role of ex-servicemen in nation-building and fostering peace in the region. The Corps Commander lauded the energy, camaraderie, and patriotism of the veterans, emphasizing the enduring motto “Naam Namak Aur Nishaan” and the timeless truth that “Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier.”
This visit underscores the enduring bond between the armed forces and veterans, celebrating their contribution to India’s sovereignty and peace. As the nation gears up to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas, these brave hearts continue to inspire patriotism and unity across the country.
