Fourth generation of Mian family enters politics

Mian Mehar Ali files nomination papers from Kangan

KANGAN: Main Mehar Ali Larvi, son of National Conference senior leader and Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi, filed his nomination papers from Kangan Assembly on Monday, marking the entry of the fourth generation of the Mian family into politics.
Accompanied by National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, Main Mehar Ali submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer.
With Mian Mehar Ali’s entry into politics, the Mian family continues its legacy of public service, and the National Conference looks to strengthen its presence in the Kangan Assembly constituency.
While talking to sidelines to media Omar Abdullah expressed confidence in Mehar’s victory, citing the family’s legacy of serving the people of Kangan.
Omar said Main Mehar Ali represents the fourth generation of the Mian family to participate in elections from Kangan. “I am sure that he will follow in the footsteps of his ancestors and father in serving the people with dedication and commitment,” he said.
The NC Vice President also expressed confidence in Mehar’s ability to carry forward the family’s legacy, saying he will undoubtedly serve the people of Kangan with the same zeal and passion as his father and forefathers.
When asked about BJP leader Ram Madhav’s recent silent visits to Jammu and Kashmir, Omar said that Madhav has always been close to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and seems to still be in touch with the party. “Ram Madhav was the mastermind behind the PDP-BJP alliance in 2015. His connections with PDP are well-known,” he said.
Regarding the increasing number of liquor shops in Kashmir, the former chief minister said, “We will address the rampant opening of liquor shops in Kashmir after the elections are complete he said, without elaborating on the party’s stance on the issue.”
