SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday expressed condolence over the demise of Mr AG Noorani, a “legal luminary, eminent writer and a great scholar” on Kashmir who authored books on it. Noorani passed away in Mumbai.
Mirwaiz said he had personal relations with the deceased who had many times advised him on political and legal matters. He was a very sincere person and forthright in his opinions, he said.
“Noorani Sahab was a true friend and supporter of the people of J&K and had a deep and critical understanding of the Kashmir issue. In his demise, Kashmir has lost a great advocate of its aspirations,” he said. Mirwaiz prayed for the magfirah and heavenly abode for the deceased.
