Baramulla: A terrorist was eliminated and warlike stores were recovered in an operation in Baramulla’s Sopore area, Army said on Saturday.
In a post on X, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said, “OP WATARGAM, Sopore #Baramulla. One terrorist eliminated and war-like stores recovered. Operation is continuing.”
A top police officer told GNS that the firefight had ensued in the area this afternoon and reinforcement were rushed to neutralise the militants.
In the intial gunfight, a soldier sustained injuries and was immediately evacuated to the hospital.
“The militant has been killed and with it the operation stands concluded,” the officer said. Identity and the group affliation of the militant is being ascertained, he said.
A pistol along with some rounds and a grenade has been recovered at the shootout site, the officer added.(GNS)
