Green Campus prog hosts teachers’ training workshop in GGHS School Nawakadal

SRINAGAR: Under the Green Campus Programme run by The Climate Reality Project India and SA, a significant milestone was achieved on Saturday with the successful conduct of a Teachers’ Training Workshop Government Girls Higher Secondary School Nawakadal, Srinagar.
This event, held under the formal communication of the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DSEK), included nominations from important schools across all ten districts of the Kashmir Division.
This workshop marked the ninth district, Srinagar, following previous workshops in Pulwama, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Heads of Institutions (HoIs), Green Teachers, and other representatives from nominated schools across the Srinagar district. It began with a welcome speech by Nadeem Ahmad Dar, Programme Coordinator of GCP. Advocate Nadeem Qadri, an environmental lawyer and amicus curiae, and Programme Advisor for GCP, led an introductory and informative session. Aadil Ahmad Bhat, Programme Manager of GCP, provided a technical presentation, officials told Kashmir Reader.
It is pertinent to mention that The Climate Reality Project is an organization founded by the 45th Vice President of the United States, Al Gore. In India, it is led by Aditya Pundir, Director for India and South Asia. Ms Rekha Lalla, Program Lead for GCP, plays a crucial role in this program and is keen on incorporating more educational institutions to instill green practices among future generations. Educational institutions are seen as pivotal in fostering a culture of sustainability.
The workshop concluded with HoIs and Green Teachers expressing their commitment to the initiative, emphasizing the need for collective effort in addressing the climate crisis. United action, they agreed, is essential for creating a greener and cleaner Mother Earth, echoing the adage, “United we stand, divided we fall,” as they pledged their contributions towards a sustainable future.
