Police launch poppy destruction drive in Pulwama, Awantipora

SRINAGAR: Police in Pulwama in collaboration with the Revenue and Excise Departments, conducted a poppy destruction drive in village Bellow. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug cultivation and ensure a drug-free community.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 43/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora against the accused person namely Gh Jeelani Dar son of Mohd Yousuf Dar resident of Bellow Dargund, police said in a statement.
The joint operation underscores our commitment to eradicating the sources of illicit drugs and protecting the well-being of our citizens. J&K Police will continue to work tirelessly with relevant agencies to eliminate drug-related activities.
Police in Awantipora during a special drive against illegal poppy cultivation, a huge patch of poppy spread over a large area was destroyed at Khankah Midoora areas of Police Station Awantipora by special teams of Police Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora (SP) Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered against accused persons at Police Station Awantipora and an investigation has been initiated, police said.
