SVEEP: DC Gbl kick-starts Chinar plantation drive
GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Thursday kick-started a mega Chinar plantation drive at Biodiversity Park Dagapora Ganderbal under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.
Chinar plantation drive was organized by District Floriculture Officer Ganderbal in collaboration with Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of various stakeholders including DFO Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal, District Floriculture Officer, Forest department staff, students and local residents.
The ceremonial planting of Chinar saplings by the DC marked the inauguration, symbolizing the collective commitment to fostering a greener and healthier environment. Over 100 Chinar plants were planted during the event, highlighting the crucial significance of preserving this iconic species.
Underlining the District Administration Ganderbal’s ambitious green agenda, the aim is to plant 3 lakh saplings of diverse species across the district’s open spaces.
Speaking at the event, the DC stressed the cultural and environmental importance of Chinars, emphasizing their status as a heritage of Kashmir. He urged everyone to actively participate in this noble cause by planting at least one sapling and engaging in the upcoming elections.
The mega plantation drive underscores the District Administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and civic engagement, marking a significant step towards a greener and more participatory future.

DEO Kulgam inspects Strong rooms, collection/ distribution centres
KULGAM: The District Election Officer (DEO) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Thursday visited strong rooms, distribution and collection centres being set up for the General Lok Sabha 2024 elections at GDC D.H Pora, GDC Kulgam and GDC Kulgam.
During the visit, DEO took detailed assessment of arrangements being put up for safety, surveillance and security of Election related material and machinery to be kept at these centres for the Lok Sabha elections in 3 Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary elections.
He instructed the concerned to ensure all safety measures and adherence to the guidelines of Election Commission of India in letter and spirit for protection of election related material and machinery at these centres.

DEO flags-off SVEEP Van for voter awareness in Kulgam
KULGAM: In an effort to generate awareness among the public regarding the significance of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) in the district, the District Election Officer, Athar Aamir Khan on Thursday flagged-off a voter awareness van from DC Office Complex, Kulgam.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy District Election Officer/ Nodal Officer SVEEP and other officers/ officials were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the objectives of SVEEP, DEO stressed the importance of widespread awareness about importance of vote and informed that the initiative aims to educate the public regarding the significance of systematic voters’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP) and to increase turnout during the elections.
He added that a comprehensive SVEEP activity calendar has been formulated and activities are being carried out accordingly as per the devised activity calendar.

Distt Admin hosts voters awareness program under SVEEP at Lolab, Keran
KUPWARA: Mega Voters Awareness programs under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative were on Thursday organized at Govt Higher Secondary School Maidanpora (Lolab) and Government Higher Secondary School Keran (close to LOC).
The events were aimed to raise awareness about various voting-related activities and promote electoral literacy among citizens, especially first-time voters in the run up to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
The events were attended by the principals, teachers, and students from different schools, officials from various departments, general public, first time voters, community leaders and local Artists.
Participants were enthralled by election related skits, scintillating cultural performances and interactive sessions designed to educate and inspire active participation in the democratic process.
Pledge taking ceremonies under SVEEP were held where participants took the pledge to vote enthusiastically in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On the occasion, as a token of appreciation, achiever students were also felicitated.
Mass awareness regarding electoral participation was generated through painting and Quiz competitions.
Speaking at the events, Resource Persons emphasized on the significance of electoral literacy in empowering citizens and urged everyone, especially first-time voters, to exercise their franchise responsibly in the upcoming elections.
