GDC Gbl organises seminar on ‘role of moral education in spiritual rejuvenation’

GANDERBAL: The Department of Islamic Studies at Govt. Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal organized a one-day seminar titled “Role of Moral Education in Spiritual Rejuvenation” on Wednesday The seminar aimed to delve into the importance of moral education in fostering spiritual growth and character development.
The event, under the patronage of Prof. Fouzia Fatima, the esteemed Principal of GDC Ganderbal, was convened by Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Parray, Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies. Prof. Shamasul Haque, from the Department of Sociology, served as the rapporteur for the seminar.
Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Vice-Principal and Head of the Chemistry Department, delivered the welcome address, extending a warm reception to the esteemed resource persons and attendees. Dr. Sheikh underscored the significance of moral education in shaping virtuous characters, fostering self-awareness, and promoting empathy among individuals.
The seminar featured two distinguished resource persons: Dr. Moyeed-uz-Zafar, Senior Assistant Professor and Coordinator at the Department of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, and Dr. Altaf Hussain Yatoo, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at GDC Sogam, Kupwara.
Dr. Zafar discussed the role of moral values in education, highlighting the imperative of rejuvenating local and moral values as per the National Education Policy 2020. Dr. Yatoo focused on the interplay between sanctification, fasting, and spirituality, emphasizing the integration of spirituality into one’s behavior.
Following the insightful presentations, a lively Q&A session provided attendees with the opportunity to engage further with the speakers and delve deeper into the seminar’s themes.
The seminar concluded with the distribution of mementos and certificates to the resource persons, organizers, and participants. Dr. Sheikh Tanveer Salam, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), extended the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved in making the event a success.
The seminar, moderated by Sahil Manzoor, a sixth-semester student, witnessed a significant turnout of students and faculty members, underscoring the importance of the topic and the enthusiasm for intellectual discourse within the academic community.
