JIM, SM conduct skiing courses

SRINAGAR: The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM & WS) successfully concluded two skiing courses, namely the Basic Skiing Course – 64 (BSC-64) and the Advance Skiing Course 18 (ASC-18), held from February 22, 2024, to March 6, 2024.
A total of 83 enthusiastic trainees from various parts of the country participated in these courses, showcasing their passion for skiing and winter sports.
Basic Skiing Course – 64 (BSC-64):
66 students enrolled in the course, out of which 59 successfully completed the training.
The course covered a comprehensive range of skiing techniques, including sliding, gliding, schussing, fall & recovery, side-stepping, snowplough & brake, herringbone, snowplough turn, traverse & kick turn, stem turn, and stem swing.

Advance Skiing Course 18 (ASC-18):
All 17 students enrolled successfully completed the Advance Skiing Course.
The course focused on advanced skiing techniques, including Langlauf with gears, dynamic stem swing, parallel turns, weddlen turn, long brook, middle brook, short brook, mogul skiing, one-leg skiing, off-piste, and downhill.
Similar to BSC-64, medical lectures were provided alongside exposure to slalom competition.
