National Dentist Day: IDA honors legacy of Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, Father of Modern Dentistry in India

Pampore: In a heartfelt tribute, the Indian Dental Association (IDA) commemorated National Dentist Day, in Srinagar. The event, hosted by the IDA local Branch in Srinagar in collaboration with the IDA J&K State Branch, paid homage to the enduring impact of Padmabhushan Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, celebrated as the pioneer of modern dentistry in India.
Prof (Dr) Yunis Saleem took centre stage as the main speaker, delivering a comprehensive lecture that underscored the profound significance of National Dentist Day.
Attended by a multitude of IDA members, the occasion welcomed distinguished individuals such as Dr Hilal Joo, President of the State Branch, Dr. Nusrat, immediate past president, Dr. Mudassir Khan, President of the Srinagar local Branch, and Dr Javed, Honorary Secretary of the State Branch. Dr. Hilal Joo, in his capacity as President of the State Branch, expressed gratitude in a heartfelt vote of thanks, emphasizing the communal spirit and knowledge exchange fostered during the event. Beyond recognizing the invaluable contributions of Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, the celebration served as a poignant platform for dental professionals to connect and share insights.
In a momentous declaration, the IDA officially proclaimed December 24th as National Dentist Day, aligning it with the birth anniversary of the esteemed Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed. This declaration cements the day as an annual homage to the visionary, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the landscape of modern Indian dentistry. The celebration stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed and the collective dedication of the dental community to advancing the field.
