SKUAST-K initiative supports Ladakh farmers in combating crop pests

Srinagar: The All India Coordinated Research Project on Biological Control of Crop Pests (AICRP-BC), Division of Entomology, FoH, SKUAST-K, Shalimar, Srinagar in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kargil distributed sprayer, water tanks, pesticide protection kit, gunny cloth and pheromone traps among the farmers for the management of codling moth and other pests infesting apple, apricot and other crops in Kargil, Ladakh on October 31, 2023.
The input distribution was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research–National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (ICAR-NBAIR), Bangalore, Tribal Sub Plan (2023-24) and was successfully conducted by the support and cooperation of KVK, Kargil. The Scientist – Farmer interaction was also held and Dr. Mohd. Mehdi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Kargil, Dr. Rizwana Khurshid, Principal Investigator, AICRP-BC and Dr. Mudasir Gani, Co-Principal Investigator, AICRP-BC, SKUAST-K briefed the farmers about the insect pest management in apple and apricot and the effective utilization of inputs distributed among them.
