SW Deptt, ALIMCO hold medical assessment camp for special needs at Pampore

Pampore: The Social Welfare Department Pulwama, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), organized a medical assessment camp for special needs from Pampore Tehsil.
The event, held at the Social Welfare Office in Pampore, involved a team of doctors from ALIMCO, Kanpur, and the Social Welfare District officials who assessed over 100 special needs in four different categories, including Mental Retardation, Locomotor Disability, Hearing Disability, and Blindness.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Irshad Maqbool, and other staff members graced the occasion, demonstrating the district’s support for this noble cause, officials told Kashmir Reader.
During the camp, assessments were conducted to identify the specific needs of these children. Following the assessment, a distribution cum fitment camp will be organized to provide aids and appliances to the children and elders with special needs.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Irshad Maqbool, the Tehsil Officer of Social Welfare Office Pampore, said that the Department of Social Welfare is conducting a comprehensive drive to ensure the saturation of various schemes, including pension schemes, focusing on disability pension holders. Efforts are being made to assess the specific needs of individuals with disabilities and distribute suitable devices accordingly.
Today’s camp, where approximately 100 people were assessed, marks a significant step in this initiative. Following this assessment, a distribution camp is scheduled, during which the identified individuals will receive the necessary devices to enhance their quality of life. This effort by the Department of Social Welfare aims to improve accessibility and support for individuals with disabilities in the area.
