Another black bear rescued in Khunmoh

Pampore: A black bear trapped in a trench was rescued by Wildlife Department experts at the Khunmoh area of wildlife range Khrew Pampore on Saturday.
This is the second bear captured in the last eight days in the Khunmoh area.
The locals who spotted the bear and were trapped in a trench and informed the department and officials of the wildlife range Khrew, and the wildlife experts team including casual labourers immediately rushed to the spot and rescued a black bear after it got trapped in a trench.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that on Saturday morning, they received a call from locals that a young black bear was trapped in a trench in the Khunmoh area.
A team of wildlife department experts including casual labourers rushed to the spot and rescued the alive without causing any injury, he said.
“Today, we successfully rescued a black bear that was trapped in a trench. As soon as we arrived at the spot, we initiated the rescue operation, and within two hours, we managed to rescue the bear without causing any harm,” officials told Kashmir Reader, adding that the captured bear was later on, released into its natural habitat,.
The locals of the area heaved a sigh of relief after the wild animal was captured. They appreciated wildlife officials from Range office Khrew for this action.
Earlier, last week, the wildlife department range Khrew captured a big black bear in the area.
The bear had been roaming in the area for the last two months and since then the department had increased surveillance and installed cages in the different areas.
