15th edition of Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tourney begins

Srinagar: The 15th edition of Mohammad Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tournament 2023 kick started on Thursday. The prestigious championship was formally declared open by Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Principal , Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar.
Twenty-four (24) teams across the valley’s degree colleges are competing for the coveted Trophy. Principal interacted with the two teams in the inaugural match between Amar Singh College Srinagar and Government Degree College, Aloochi bagh, Srinagar. A pleasant exchange on the nuances of the game followed with the members of Host College, Sports Committee around.
Captain of Amar Singh College won the toss and elected to field. Government Degree College, Aloochi bagh couldn’t capitalize on a good start and finally managed the score of136/ 8 wickets in stipulated 20 Overs. Hayat top scored with 74 runs of 49 deliveries. For Amar Singh College Ashiq & Shahid took 3 & 2 wickets each. Amar Singh college batsmen never looked in any trouble and achieved the target in 18 overs loosing 8 wickets. Moomin scored 37 of 19 deliveries and Majid chipped in with quick fire 28. Hayat & Mohsin claimed 2 wickets each.
Moomin was adjudged Man of the Match. The turnament is officiated by a neutral panel. A large number of spectators witnessed the contest played in high spirits.
The next match of this tourney will be played on 06th October between the Govt. College of Education M A Road Government Degree College Uttersoo.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education Islamia College of Science and Commerce Hawal Srinagar.
