Food Safety: ADC Tral imposes Rs 7.25 lakh penalty

Pampore: The court of Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum- Adjudicating Officer Tral under the Food Safety Act imposed a fine of Rs 7.25 lakh on various food business operators for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 in Sub Division Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The Additional District Magistrate Tral (ADM) Saajid Yehaya Naquash imposed a penalty of Rs 7,25,000 in six cases of Misbranded/Sub-Standard food items under provisions of Section 51 and 52 Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, ADC office Tral officials told Kashmir Reader.
He said that these cases and samples were lifted by Food Safety Officer Tral Shabir Ahmad in the Tral market including Food Supplement, Simlac, Protein Powder, Tea, Mong Dal and other food items.
The Food Safety Officer, Tral represented the FSS department.
As many as 25 accused were involved in the cases. The penalty of Rs 7.25 lakh has been imposed on all the accused and Rs 1.35 lakh have been recovered on time and subsequently deposited in Treasury Office Tral under head 0210, officials said.
