DCJ screens documentary on NEP-2020

Ganderbal: To promote awareness about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a documentary screening was organized at the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir, under the aegis of the Akhil Bharitya Shiksha Samagam Programme’s theme “Celebrating 3 Years of the NEP-2020,” in the varsity’s Tulmulla campus here Wednesday.
Dean School of Media Studies Prof. Shahid Rasool, conveyed his best wishes for the smooth conduct of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Head DCJ, Dr. Arif Nazir, said, “NEP-2020 gives flexibility to the students to choose from various courses and offers an interdisciplinary approach as well.” He said the students under NEP-2020 have the provision for lateral entry and exit subject to fulfilling certain conditions and also focus on the holistic development of students.
A video on NEP-2020 by the Ministry of Education was screened, highlighting the significance of the NEP-2020. The video focused on numerous advantages of the policy, emphasizing how it promises to revolutionize education for students, from their earliest learning stages to higher education. Following the screening, there was an open discussion in which the students and academics participated and shared their perspectives, questions, and suggestions.
Sr Asst Prof Dr. John Babu highlighted the key benefits of NEP-2020. “Students will have the opportunity to both learn and earn by studying different subjects across multiple universities once the policy is fully implemented,” he said.
Asst Prof, Dr. Nookaraju Bendurkurthi, who coordinated the event, said that he was delighted to witness such active engagement from students and scholars in deciphering the significance of the NEP 2020. “It is heartening to see the reforms being made to introduce courses for specially-abled people.” Faculty, research scholars, and students attended the event.
