Parliaments’ Monsoon Session Begins Today

New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to commence on Thursday, July 20, and will conclude on August 11. The session is expected to be stormy, given how the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition parties are sharpening attacks on each other as they gear up for a host of assembly elections this year and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Monsoon Session commences two days after 26 opposition parties formed an alliance ahead of the general elections next year, and termed it ‘I.N.D.I.A.’

Following the all-party meet on Wednesday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the government has said it was willing to discuss issues permitted under the rules and added that it has 31 legislative listed items.

“All the parties want a discussion on Manipur and the government is ready to discuss it,” he added.

As many as 31 major bills will be tabled before Parliament during the Monsoon Session. Notably, the bill to replace the ordinance on the control of services in Delhi.
