Pampore: Agriculture Department Kashmir in collaboration with Jal Shakti (Irrigation and Flood Control) Department Kashmir organised a programme marking the commencement of irrigation season in Kashmir Valley.
The event was organised at Marval lift irrigation scheme Pulwama and was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, who was the chief guest at the functions, in presence of chief engineer Jal Shakti (Irrigation and Flood Control) department Kashmir Er. Naresh Kumar.
On the occasion, the marval irrigation canal was charged that will assure irrigation supplies to the concerned villages of the area formally marking the start of the upcoming irrigation season in the valley.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal said that under the supervision of Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Agriculture production and farmer Welfare department Atal Dullo, the department is working on a roadmap to provide assured irrigation facilities to the farming community for a successful croping season.
He highlighted the importance of assured irrigation in the overall success of agriculture season. Director Agriculture said that department is committed to safeguard the interests of farming community and development of agriculture sector in the region.
