Heeraben, the mother of our prime minister passed away at the age of 100 years. Her last rites were performed at a crematorium in Gandhinagar’s sector 30. She was a simple and extraordinary khatoon. The Prime minister and her mother were seen together in public on 4th December. Born in Visnagar in Gujarat in 1923, she lived with PM Modi’s younger brother.
In her childhood there was poverty and later on, at the age of 15 or 16 years, she married Damodardas Mulchand Modi and moved to Vadnagar a few kilometers far. Due to financial strain, she was not having the chance to study but she wanted all her children to be educated for achieving the goal she worked hard for and made a success. Due to financial limits she many times patched up the uniform with some other colored cloth.
In Vadnagar she usually used to treat small children and females with home remedies. She knew so many Desi Tareeqai Aelaj by which she was famous as Dossi Maa though she never attended school. She was a kind of doctor in that village. She was hard-working and did struggle during her entire life.
The Prime Minister said that she used to draw water from the well twice a day by doing such an exercise she was strong like we find old aged women, especially in villages. She used to remain busy with her work.
She was a very religious lady and always said we should dedicate our lives to the country. She laid a major emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation and she respected those who were involved in cleaning and sanitation and her focus on cleanliness is evident today. She was having strong principles
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly said that there are no assets in his mother’s name. She was not wearing gold ornaments. She continued to lead an extra simple life. Really there is no other word like the word mother. This word reflects emotions trust patience and much more. Each religion gives mothers a special status. Mother is Mother. We all know nobody can take its place. A mother gives birth to a child and shapes the mind of her child and personality and makes him self-confident. Mother selflessly sacrifices her life for the betterment of the child.
Behind every man’s success is the support of a woman. Really this great lady was the supportive mother to our prime minister. She passed away as we all have to leave this world one day but she had made history that the coming generations will read and follow her life. She showed us that living a simple life is good not only for us but for the entire humanity. Historians should study her life in depth and it should be made available for the public domain so that new generations will make the society crystal clear as she was fond of a clean society. We should follow her path to make the country prosperous and especially mothers of the new generation should adopt their life on their own and then only our country will get the target of 100 percent education and there would be no drop out found in any corner of the country. Really she created history in her 100 years and we should follow her path.
