Alig Association Mendhar in collaboration with Govt Model Girls Hr Sec School celebrate Sir Syed Day

SRINAGAR: Alig Association Mendhar in collaboration with Govt Model Girls Hr Sec School Mendhar celebrated Sir Syed Day on the 205th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed khan the founder of Aligarh Muslim university Aligarh.
The function was presided over by Dr Shams Kamal Anjum, Associate Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies and Languages Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri. Whereas the most seniors Alumni of AMU Aligarh in the area Mohammed Ali khan retired District Judge and Prof Raoof Choudhary retired principal from Hr Education Department were the chief guests on this occasion. Mohammed Rasheed Mughal retired senior Lecturer and Sayed Iftikhar Hussain Shah Bukhari retired Headmaster participated as the guests of Honour. Besides the students and staffers of Hr Sec School Girls Mendhar, a large number of Alumni of AMU Aligarh including Prof Murtaza Ahmed, Prof Mohammed Akram both from GDC Mendhar, Dr Raza Ahmed from GDC Mandi Poonch, Dr Iftikhar Hussain Jafri from Surankote, Syed Karam Hussain Shah retired Headmaster, Dr Aijaz Chauhan, Sayed Natiq Hussain Jafri Principal Hr Sec School Gursai, Syed Saleem Shah Principal Hr Sec School Boys Mendhar attended the program.
It is pertinent to mention that the alumni of AMU Aligarh all over the world celebrate Sir Syed Day in their respective areas to spread the message of a great revolutionary and visionary personality Sir Syed Ahmed Khan who dedicated his whole life to achieve his goal of equipping the nation with modern education.
The speakers threw light upon the multifaceted life of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and told that besides endeavouring to lace the nation with modern scientific education he also worked for national integration. Sir Syed in one of his quotes has said that Hindus and Muslims are the two eyes of the beautiful bride that is Hindustan and the weakness of any of them will spoil the beauty of the bride. Besides some students, those who spoke on this occasion included Prof Mohammad Akram, Dr Aijaz Chauhan, Sayed Natiq Hussain Jafri, Prof Murtaza Ahmed, Rasheed Mughal and many others.
Prof Raoof Choudhary and Mohammed Ali khan talked in detail on the Aligarh Tehreek, the mission of Sir Syed and his achievements.
Sajjad Hussain Shah senior Lecturer enthralled the audience with his beautiful poetry.
Dr Shams Kamal Anjum in his presidential address thanked Zulfiqar Naqvi for this great initiative to celebrate the birth anniversary of a legend of the 19th century so that his message and mission could be carried forward to the masses and especially to the students. He said that if Sir Syed had not lit the lamp of knowledge in the shape of AMU Aligarh there would have been darkness of ignorance everywhere. It is the result of that university where in the poorest of the poors can have education that in these remote ares we have doctors, professors, teachers and scholars. Dr Anjum urged the teaching fraternity to follow the footprints of Sir Syed and must teach the students not only to earn their livelihood but they must be missionary to lace the present generation with modern education which is the only way to excel and progress and to compete with the world.
On this occasion a Book of Dr Raza Ahmed an alumnus of AMU presently working in GDC Mandi, was also released by the dignitaries present in the function.
Zulfiqar Naqvi the founder of Alig Association Mendhar and principal of the host institution presented the vote of thanks.
