Fourteen days training programme concludes at SKUAST-Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Division of Food Science and Technology SKUAST-Kashmir conducted fourteen days training
programme on “Advanced Skill Enhancement in the Development and Quality Characterization of Functional Foods using Extrusion Technology” from 20 th of September to 3 rd of October 2022. The programme was held under Karyashalla scheme of
SERB-DST, Govt. of India. The aim of the programme was to bridge the skill gap in the youth for development of high value extruded food products.
The programme comprised of 25 technical sessions, including practical demonstrations and industrial visits. Experts from renowned institutions of country including IIT Kharagpur, CFTRI Mysore, IARI New Delhi, IIP
Mumbai, SLIET Punjab and PAU Ludhiana delivered lectures to the students. The main thematic areas of the training programme included basic principles of extrusion technology, cold extrusion, new directions in extrusion science, quality evaluation of extruded products, packaging and safety aspects of extruded foods. Participants were educated about the entrepreneurship opportunity in extrusion sector.
Detailed project report (DPR) and development/quality evaluation of various extruded products were practically demonstrated to the participants. The valedictory function held on 3 rd October 2022 in Vice Chancellor’s secretariat, SKUAST-K was graced by chief guest Prof. (Dr). Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Dr Tanveer Alam, Director IIP Mumbai, Dr Rajeshwar Matche, CFTRI Mysore, Directors, Deans, Officers and Heads of Divisions of the University.
