2 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Hussipora crossing intercepted two persons riding on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK04G-8113. When a police party signalled the biker to stop, they tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by alert police party. They have been identified as Asif Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Gund Maqsood Chadoora & Rayees Mushtaq Sofi son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi resident of Chrawani Chrar-i Sharif. During the search, officers were able to recover 04 grams of Heroin like substance wrapped in 22 polythene packets & 298 tablets of controlled drug Alprazolam from their possession. They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 124/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Chadoora and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
