3-day workshop on ‘Constructive Teaching & Learning’ concludes

Srinagar: A 3-day workshop on ‘Constructive Teaching and Learning with Technology’, a capacity building programme for teachers of Zone Eidgah in Srinagar, concluded on Wednesday.
The workshop was jointly organized by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Srinagar, in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), India.
Conducted by 5 Master Trainers of Zone Eidgah, the workshop was organized at three different venues, with the main centre being at Higher Secondary School, Palpora, Eidgah. The trainers who earlier went through a comprehensive virtual course on constructivist approaches to teaching, included Nazir Ahmad Gillo, Zaid Bin Manzoor, Javed Ahmad Naqash, Talib Hussain and Imtiyaz Ahmad Deva.
The workshop was organized with an objective to raise awareness about the role of technology in teaching and learning, and train teachers to design lessons integrating technology in curriculum and pedagogy to improve understanding of subjects and develop higher order thinking skills.
During the workshop, different activities were held to familiarise the participants with latest teaching models and approaches which include – Authentic Learning, 21st Century Skills, technological-pedagogical-content knowledge (TPACK) and Passive-Active-Create-Communicate (PACC) model.
Earlier, Principal HSS, Palpora, Nusrat Jahan, in her address, hailed the organizers and appreciated the above capacity building programme.
She said that such workshops should be organized at every level and on regular intervals to develop creative teaching skills among the teachers.
