Pedestrian dies in hit and run case at Awantipora, several injured in bus accident at Shopian

AWANTIPORA: A 50 year old pedestrian died in a hit and run case on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday afternoon.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that Mohammad Ashraf Bhat son In law of Abdul Rehman Parray, resident of Charsoo Awantipora died, when an unidentified vehicle hit him at Charsoo Awantipora.
The accident took place at NHW44 near Toll Plaza Charsoo, Awantipora in which one unidentified vehicle number not known hit one pedestrian Mohammad Ashraf Bhat aged about 50 years, resulting in his onspot death, however, the vehicle driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle.
He said that a case has been registered at the police station Awantipora and started investigation.
Meanwhile, four students and a teacher were injured near Dubjan bridge area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday evening when a school bus met an accident.
According to reports that a school bus of Smart Mission High school Gassipora Wanpoh Anantnag met an accident Mughal road near Dubjan bridge in which four students and a teacher sustained injuries.
Soon after the incident army and police immediately rushed to the spot and evacuated injured to district hospital Shopian where from 3 have been shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
The injured have been identified as Farhan Fayaz, Rabid Rayaz, Fasil Jabbar , Uzair Imtiyaz and Teacher Tanveer Ahmad, reports said.
Spoke to district administration on the accident of a Anantnag school bus at Dubjan bridge, Shopian. Issued necessary direction for best possible treatment of injured students. One injured student has been shifted to SMHS hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha tweets.
