Srinagar: Disaster Preparedness Training was conducted by Aamir Ali Director DM and Nodal Officer SEOC for Block Development Officers and Staff of Rural Dev Dept, who have been placed on Special Duty for Amarnathji Yatra. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner/ Secretary to Govt Rural Dev. Dept. Mandeep Kaur was also attended by Director Rural Dev Kashmir Imam Din and Director Rural Sanitation Charandeep Singh. This is the first time that Rural Dev Dept has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring Sanitation along the entire Yatra Route, with zero land filling of the waste. The bio degradable garbage will be converted into compost and the non-biodegradable material will be compressed to Bails and shifted to base camps, where it will be segregated and recycled. The officers and staff of RDD were imparted training so that in the event of any emergency or disaster their services can also be utilised by the Disaster Management Department.
