Srinagar: Vishwa Bharti Women’s college Srinagar have organised environmental week from 6th June to 14th June 2022. The programme was organised by Head of Department Environmental Science, Prof Mir Shanaz. Week-long programmes were organised starting from the college Auditorium. Welcome address was delivered by prof Mir Shahnaz explaining in depth regarding celebration of Environmental week. She stressed upon raising awareness among the masses to protect the environment as the theme itself states “Only One Earth”. Worthy Principal Prof Dr. Syed Javeed Iqbal Kamli inaugurated the week long celebrations for Environmental week.
During the entire week a lot of events like painting competition, Seminars & Environmental awareness Skits, Songs were performed & organised. The department organised a rally outside college along with a cleanliness drive. Around 100 students participated in the rally and held Placards that carried messages on the protection of environment, Bio-diversity & issues that are affecting the environment,Students also distributed paper bags to local shopkeepers with the message of No Polythene Bags.
The weeklong event was concluded on 14th June headed by Principal Prof. Dr. Syed Javed Iqbal Kamli who distributed Certificates among the students who secured positions in painting & Seminar Competition’s. Faculty members also spoke about the necessity of preserving the environment. Worthy Principal in his speech stressed upon students to preserve the environment by planting trees, saying No to Polythene etc. and also congratulated all event organisers for celebrating environmental week. The celebrations ended with the oath that the environment has to be saved if we have to save planet Earth.
