Training programme on ‘Scientific Beekeeping’ begins at Pollination Centre, SKUAST Shalimar

Srinagar: A seven Days Training Programme on “Scientific Beekeeping” under NBHM Scheme sponsored by National Bee Board (NBB), MoA & FW, Govt. of India was inaugurated at Research and Training Centre for Pollinators, Pollinizers and Pollination Management (RTCPPPM), SKUAST-K, Shalimar.
The programme organized especially for unemployed youth/beekeepers of aspirational District of Baramulla. A group of unemployed youth and beekeepers from different areas of Baramulla District have been registered for the said training identified by Apiculture Wing, Department of Agriculture Baramulla, Govt. of J&K.
The training is being intended to develop skill in various aspects of Scientific Beekeeping among the trainees for their self-reliance and upliftment. The trainees will be given know how and practical demonstrations for rearing of honey bees on Scientific basis and how to use them efficiently for pollination of agricultural and horticultural crops, honey and other beehive products.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr. Abida Jabeen, Associate Professor, Division of Food Sciences, SKUAST-K, Shalimar who was the Chief Guest of the occasion. She acknowledged that the youth have enough potential and should utilize this potential for self sustenance.
Prof M.A.Paray, Incharge RTCPPPM in his address to the trainees stressed on adopting of beekeeping as a venture for income generation. The Scientists and students associated with the Pollination Centre were also present to grace the occasion.
