Two weeks faculty development programme concludes at BGSBU

Rajouri: A two week faculty development programme on Impact of Covid-19 on Higher Education: Challenges, Strategies and Innovations concluded at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri. The FDP was organised by the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, BGSBU.
The FDP aimed to bring together the different stakeholders in higher education to discuss and deliberate upon challenges posed to higher education due to Covid-19 pandemic. Prof. Akbar Masood Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University congratulated the Centre on the successful completion of the programme.
Prof. Akbar said that in times when on-campus education has taken a major hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has successfully adapted to the changed scenario by shifting comfortably to the online mode for academic advancement and not let the Corona Virus become an impediment.
He mentioned that Virtual mode of teaching learning requires orientation in terms of how the course will be delivered, discussed and assessed and to create authentic interaction between teachers, students and peers in online platforms, therefore, making the online course successful.Prof. Akbar exhorted the faculty to adopt the latest means and methods to impart world class quality education to the students. Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs BGSBU lauded the efforts of the Centre for organising the FDP. Prof. Iqbal mentioned that blended mode of teaching and learning is the future of education and faculty members irrespective of their fields of study must look forward towards new realities of higher education.
Earlier Dr. Danish Iqbal Raina Deputy Director Centre for Hospitality and Tourism and FDP convener presented a brief report of the FDP and stressed on the role of teachers in the times of crisis. He said that no pandemic can be a deterrent to imparting and imbibing knowledge. Dr. Parvaiz Abdullah,FDP convener also spoke on the occasion and thanked the participants for their zeal and zest displayed during the programme. Many among the participants also spoke on the occasion and expressed their views on the completion of the FDP. The FDP received a huge participation from India and abroad. Those who were present on the occasion included Dr. Kafee Ahmed,Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Dr. Vinay Kumar, faculty members and research scholars of BGSBU.
