Women Help Desk inaugurated by Police in Kulgam

Srinagar: In order to help the women/girls in distress such as facing harassment or any kind of abuse or violence, Police in Kulgam have inaugurated Women Help Desk at Police Station Qazigund.
On the occasion SSP Kulgam Dr. G.V Sundeep Chakravarthy-IPS inaugurated the Women Help Desk at Police Station Qazigund. He was accompanied by ASP NHW Shri Majid Malik-JKPS, SDPO Qazigund, DySP PC Mir Bazar, DySP DAR & other officers of the District.
The help desk is aimed to respond to all such calls made by the women who are victims of domestic violence. Due to the growing incidents of domestic violence arising out of issues between the married couples in the valley especially in District Kulgam demands an immediate redressal mechanism.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam said that the well designed Women help desk will help in protecting the rights of the women/girls in the district and expressed hope that the Women Help Desk would cater to the needs of women who face violence and encourage women to file complaints without any hesitation, especially in cases relating to heinous crimes. He also said that Crime against Women/Girls is the most aggressive violation of human rights and the victims often experience a sense of emotional numbness that could result in her taking drastic and fatal decisions. He also said crime against women shall be taken seriously and tasked In-charge Women Help Desk to train lady investigation officers to deal and investigate the complaints of women/girl victim.
Police is committed to ensure peace in the society and to end the menace of domestic violence from the society.
