Market checking held in Pampore, Rs 7,100 fine realised

PAMPORE: Tehsil Administration carried out a market checking drive in Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. During the checking amount of Rs 7,100 was fined from various shopkeepers.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary, a team of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA) department, Revenue department Pampore and Municipal Committee Pampore led by Naib Tehsildar Pampore Mohammad Ameen and Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Ayash Farooq carried out a joint drive at Khrew Chowk and Drangbal area of the town.
The checking was conducted after reports that some erring shopkeepers are charging exorbitant rates in view of closure of Srinagar-Jammu Highway which was closed for vehicular movement due to road damage a few days ago.
he inspection team checked the various business units including, mutton shops, chicken, fish sellers, vegetable vendors and others were checked during inspection.
The inspection team also checked the quality, hygienic condition, expiry and rate lists of Food items and other essential commodities in the Saffron Town.
During the inspection, the checking team realised a fine of Rs 7,100 from various shopkeepers, Tehsil Supply Officer Ayash Farooq told Kashmir Reader.
The checking was aimed at ensuring the quality and price control and to keep vigil on erring traders, he said that such drives will continue to ensure quality of commodities. He also urged shopkeepers not to violate the rules besides displaying the rate lists at their respective shops.
He also requested the general public to contact the department in case of rate violation in the Saffron Town.
