Police arrests a drug peddler in Ganderbal along with contraband

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Nagbal at a checkpoint established at Gratbal Nagbal intercepted a suspicious person who tried to escape from the spot however, the alert Police party tactfully apprehended him. He has been identified as Abdul Ahad Mir son of Ali Mohd Mir resident of Wayil Ganderbal. During checking, officers were able to recover two kilograms of poppy straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 229/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
