‘IGNOU imparting knowledge through local dialects, regional languages’

SRINAGAR: A virtual mode meeting was held on to discuss the implementation of the scheme for Channel Based Counselling through different regional languages in Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for under graduate programmes on SWAYAM PRABHA & Gyan Darshan Channels.
The Competent Authority of IGNOU has decided to conduct online counselling classes for July 2021 session in 13 regional languages as a mode of instruction in online counselling classes through SWAYAM PRABHA & Gyan Darshan channels with effect from 1st January ,2022. This commendable initiative has been taken by the dynamic leadership of IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nageshwar Rao with the consultation of Regional Services Division represented by Dr. Sri Kanth Mohapatra, which have been announced through the meeting organised in virtual mode by IGNOU Competent Authority with the participation of 13 Regional Directors representing their respective Regional Centres like Srinagar, Khanna, Lucknow, Guwahati, Pune, Maduri, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Cochin, Bhubaneshwar & Noida under the auspicious leadership of Vice Chancellor of IGNOU Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uma Kanjilal & Director, Regional Services Division Dr. Sri. Kanth Mohapatra.
The SWAYAM PRABHA is a group of 34 DTH channels devoted to telecasting high quality educational programs on a 24×7 basis using the GSAT 15 satellite. Every day there will be new content for at least 4 hours which will be repeated 5 more times in a day, allowing the students to choose the time of their convenience. The contents are provided by NPTEL, IITS, UGC, CEC, IGNOU. The INFLIBNET centre maintains the web portal.
Dr. Kamlesh Meena Regional Director IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar said that this initiative has been taken by the competent authority in view of diversity of languages and on the basis of local dialect in order to provide the comfort zone and easy access to grab, understand and pedagogical learning method and process. Regional centre Srinagar has been assigned the responsibility to conduct online counselling sessions for July 2021 session in virtual mode from the office of Regional Centre Srinagar. The regional centre Srinagar will equipped a virtual studio at premises of RC Srinagar for carrying out the responsibilities of conducting online counselling classes in virtual mode for our Undergraduate learners enrolled for July 2021 session. Regional Director Regional Centre Srinagar Dr. Kamlesh Meena expressed his heartily thanks to the competent authority for assigning the responsibility for the new and unique initiative which is the need of local dialect based learners and a step towards enhancing the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher Education.
